The verified Instagram page of dancehall megastar Vybz Kartel and his management TJ Records have issued an official statement clarifying those authorized to speak on behalf of the artiste and his brand.
The signed statement shared earlier today, clearly states that the only persons authorized to speak on his behalf in any representative capacity are his manager Linton TJj White and Jason Mitchell, his legal counsel.
The statement further clarified that Andrew ‘Nuffy’ Nelson despite being his brother and official MC, is not authorized to speak for, him, his brand, or his entity. Any statements made outside of this are not official.
Kartel’s statement comes on the heels of recent public utterances made by MC Nuffy about the Grammy Awards, their selection process and his denigration of the recipient amid defending Vybz Kartel’s bid for a golden gramophone.
The popular MC has since issued a formal apology.
In his statement Nuffy said the remarks he made were his personal opinion expressed in a moment of passion and were not influenced by anyone including Adidija Azim Palmer.
He further acknowledged that his comments were inappropriate and did not reflect the respect owed to the Recording Academy or its longstanding process.
Nuffy also apologized to the recipient in the reggae category claiming his remarks were not intended to diminish his achievement or recognition.
Nuffy says he takes full responsibility for words and any offense they may have caused.
