Quabena Phyl, a former TEIN president and currently a member of the NATIONAL DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS (NDC) Upper East Youth working committee has addressed the youth of the NDC in an open letter, educating them on the need to make the right choices in the party's election to select new executives.
He writes ;
"My dear NDC Youth, as we are all aware, we are at an era to elect new National Executives to lead the fight in 2024.
Indeed, election 2024 is a make or break for the NDC and the youth especially are those who stand to benefit or otherwise the outcome of the elections.
With that said, let us not allow some personal interest of self seeking persons, who, for over the past 4 years, as obvious as it has been, have only prayed, wished and actually worked to the detriment of the party just so they tag their opponents as failures so as to get an undue advantage of seeking a position they would not be able to fit in for purpose.
We have seen how they have come about, how they led a whole region down and with that performance as a PC after they had enough and promised a lot with all the resources, support and the good will of the people. We can't entrust our 16 regions with its 275 constituencies in the hands of such.
They should be telling us what their contributions have been over the years and not necessarily what they would have done different, everyone can get an excuse at any given time.
They should tell us their contributions over the period and how it has helped put the party in shape even at these moments.
Those who could not stand up to people at just a region are promising some courage they lack and have shown nothing of such.
My dear comrade, politics has evolved and the old age 'buga buga' style stands no chance in today's.
Before someone promises you courage, ask him his measures put in place to protect you on that courageous journey.
How courageous can you stand in the face of the odds against you?
The Police, National Investigation Bureau, National Security, and almost all security agencies are obviously seen to be in bed with the ruling government. Most worrying is our courts with a certain Unanimous FC.
Make no mistake, the NDC is yet to get a chance to correct the mistakes of the past to ensure we consolidate our grounds and put in the necessary structures and people in place to guard our course.
There is a commander on the move over the last 4 years, strategically putting in measures amidst empowering the youth and the party right from the branches, constituencies, region, national and even the international front. What others could do was to fold arms and watch on and tag such an illustrious and selfless leader an anti-JM, (who marries the enemy?) How would a Youth Commander, whose family business has intentionally been collapsed by the vindictive Nana Addo government not want his party, the NDC to win power. How and why would same person be investing his money, time, resources, life and everything of his for the success of the party.We need to be accorded some level of respect from these propagandists at least!
If courageous leadership is about setting grounds for acrimony, putting people against their own and seeking just their interest with blatant lies and sheer propaganda, that can't be courage!
Courageous leadership with no proper foundation and contingency plan is bound to fail! "
